The GSO Gaziantep Footwear Cluster participated in the 139th Canton Fair, taking important steps toward developing new collaborations and export opportunities.
The GSO Gaziantep Footwear Cluster attended the 3rd phase of the 139th Canton Fair, held in Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China, between May 1–5, 2026, with an exhibition stand and held important meetings throughout the fair.
Participating in the fair within the scope of the Ministry of Trade’s International Competitiveness Development (UR-GE) support program, the GSO Gaziantep Footwear Cluster delegation had the opportunity to closely examine the latest technologies, innovative production methods, and developments in the global market during the fair. At the same time, the participating companies introduced their products to international buyers and took important steps toward establishing new business connections.
As part of the program, GSO Deputy Secretary General M. Sermest Çapan and accompanying company representatives held various business meetings in China and met with potential business partners. These contacts presented significant opportunities to increase the export potential of Gaziantep’s footwear sector.
Within the scope of the fair visit, a courtesy visit was also paid to Adnan Hayal, Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Guangzhou, and Şerife Yıldırım Demirel, Commercial Attaché in Guangzhou.
During the meetings, the business and investment environment in China, the activities of Turkish companies in international markets, the current state of trade relations between the two countries, and opportunities for further cooperation were discussed.
Through its participation in the 139th Canton Fair, the GSO Gaziantep Footwear Cluster aimed both to closely follow global developments in the sector and to contribute to enhancing the international competitiveness of participating companies.
